Frederike Migom is a Brussels-based film director and screenwriter. She completed her education at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, before studying film at the école Superieure d'Etudes Cinématographiques in Paris.
Her feature debut Binti (2019) had its North-American premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2020 and has since then been stringing together the awards and nominations, such as the Best European Youth Film in Berlin in 2020 and the Best International Children's Film at Cinekid in 2019, among many others.
Prior to Binti, Frederike's short film Nkosi Coiffure (2015) screened at festivals such as the Tribeca Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival.
In 2020, Frederike co-wrote and directed an episode for the mini-series Lockdown (2021), a ‘corona-proof’ series for vrt that tells twelve stand-alone stories in the same decor, a prison's visitor's room. She also wrote and directed a short animated documentary ANGRY (2021), that takes place in a children’s psychiatric hospital.
Meanwhile Frederike's writing two feature films, including the film adaptation of the successful novel Tegenwoordig heet iedereen Sorry (Everyone’s Sorry Nowadays) by Bart Moeyaert. Moeyaert has won many awards, including the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the world's most prestigious award for children's literature, and his books have been translated into more than 20 languages. Everyone's Sorry Nowadays has received script funding from the Flemish Audiovisual Fund and will be produced by De Mensen.
